TLC Educational Solutions Strategy-based Professional Development workshops are specifically designed to provide the skills needed to teach and interact with today’s students. Educators are challenged to keep students motivated and engaged in the lesson and classroom setting.  Whether at an On-Site Workshop or Invitational Seminar, we provide teachers and administrators with strategies aligned to PreK-12 College and Career Readiness Standards and designed to actively engage students. Active students are more motivated to learn and participate in the lesson. This results in an increase in their learning and less disruptive behavior problems in the classroom.

Student Engagement and Technological Strategies

Workshop Sessions

Engaging Students with Instructional and Technological Strategies That Honor Personal Learning Styles.

Engaging in strategies that honor individuality and each person’s learning style, provides opportunities for all students to learn. Developing an understanding of the unique ways in which individuals learn provides a basis for expanding student skills that empower them to learn in different ways. With this understanding of learning styles and resources, including digital resources, teachers can stretch students to develop their abilities.

Motivating Students with Formative Feedback

Perceiving feedback as an on-going exchange between teacher and student is essential. Successfully implemented feedback informs teachers in making real-time adjustments in learning opportunities for their students. Likewise, it informs students allowing them to be actively involved in their own learning. Feedback strategies that can be used throughout the leaning process are the focus of this session.

Involving Students in Their Own Learning and the Learning of Their Peers

Developing student ownership of their own learning has a profound impact upon student engagement, motivation, and self-esteem.  These strategies assist teachers in opening the door to opportunities for students to overcome the challenges of complex tasks. These strategies shift the responsibility from the teacher alone to a shared student and teacher responsibility. Google Classroom will be introduced as a tool to optimize student ownership.

Incorporating Instructional Strategies that Promote Higher Order Thinking

Raising the cognitive demand of learning experiences with strategies that focus on higher order thinking gives students the capacity to process information at a higher level of cognition.  A crosswalk of Bloom’s and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge provides a guide to this shift toward higher cognitive demand experiences.
